Sage Vishwamitra was seeking a help from the King Dasarathan of Ayodhya Kingdom to depute his son Lord Rama for protecting his auspicious Moksha Kameshti Yagya from hindrances of demons. Initially King Dasarathan was not in support of the request, sent Lord Rama and Lord Lakshmana to fight under the advice of Sage Vashista. Under the protection of Lord Rama, the Yagya was completed finally and sage Maharishi was moved and highly pleased took the prince Lord Rama of Ayodhya to the Kingdom Mithala. King Janaka of Mithala was conducting a competition to chose a best match for his daughter Goddess Sita. Shiv Dhanush the name of the bow was quite heavy and huge as none of the participants can even move the bow. Upon the instruction of Sage Maharishi Vishwamitra could string the giant bow, successfully, breaking into two pieces in the process. King Janaka was pleased by the victory gave his daughter Goddess Sita (Janaki) in marriage to Lord Rama and this day falls on Panchami, is celebrated auspiciously as Vivah Panchami.
There is an important legacy praising and worshipping God and Goddess Naga Devata. According to the ancient scripture Mahabharata Epic, once King Janamejeya son of King Parikshita of progressing Kuru dynasty, was performing a Snake Sacrifice Yagya, Sarpa Satra, wants to take a revenge on Chief King of Snake "Takshaka" and in this process started killing all the snakes in existence in a sacrificial firepit and the yagya was conducted by learned Brahmin Sages. The sacrifice is so powerful causes all snakes to fall inside the "Yagna Kunda" by the cosmic rays. Also noted that only the Chief King of Snake World "Takshaka" have escaped from this sacrifice fire, who was seeking the protection from King Indra to save him from this long sacrificial yagya.
Having known King Indra's intervention, have increased the power of mantra by a celestial energy to quickly drag both Takshaka and King Indra into the sacrificial fire. As they were dragged towards the fire, all Gods who were witnessing have appealed to the Goddess Manasadevi to relieve King Indra and Takshaka from this emotional sacrifice solving the crisis. Manasadevi requested her son Sage Astika to go to the Yagya site and make an appeal to the King Janamejaya to put an end to Sarpa Satra Yagya. Sage Astika with his knowledge and expression of speech impressed King Janamejaya requesting him to stop this emotional war of yagya to save the life of King Indra, Takshaka, liberating the serpent Naga Devata’s. King Janamejaya was pleased and stopped this yagya saving the lives. This day falls on auspicious Panchami Day dedicated to the snake gods as a mark of reverence to Naga Adi Devata's, is said to be the Naga Panchami worship.
