Samahara Kali is the complete destroyer. She is Kali of the left-handed path of Vamachara Tantra. She belongs to the cremation grounds and is a very dangerous form. She is the Goddess of Death and represents the power of destruction. She grants liberation and also death, and never thinks twice to slaughter evil beings. The Cidg Gana Chandrika by Kalidas and Tantraloka by Abhinava Gupta have referred to Samahara Kali who is also known as Smashana Kali or Vama Kali.
When Parasamvid, the supreme transcendent state of Shiva, withdraws into her all-external objects and makes them identical to Herself, that’s when Samhara Kali manifests, and according to the goddess, ‘the objects are non-different from Her’.
Samhara Kali is dangerous and ferocious to those who unleash terror on Her devotees. A person invoking this form can find immediate solutions to their problems, especially about the strong presence of malevolence and adversaries. According to Mahakala Samhita, she is two-armed and stands on a corpse holding a freshly decapitated head and a plate that collects the dripping drops of blood. She is also depicted with her left foot forward and a sword in her right hand. Kali or the ‘black one’ denotes infinite and the concept of time.

Goddess Dhumavati is a poverty-stricken, aggressive form of Goddess Shakti. She emerges from the smoke and hence the name. Dhum means smoke. She has no grace, wealth, radiance, or charm. Her clothes are untidy and Her hair unkempt. According to Vedic texts, she devoured Lord Shiva when she was extremely hungry and therefore became a widow.
She is the seventh in line of the Mahavidyas. She rides a chariot that has a flag bearing a crow. She is also seen mounted on a crow. Lord Shiva cursed her for her bad deeds and thus she roamed as a desolate, fearsome and eternal widow. She represents sorrow, distress, failure, loneliness, greed and disgrace.
