Panchamukha Sarpa Narasimha Garuda is a very unique and powerful form of Lord Narasimha with five faces that of Garuda, Varaha, Narasimha, Hayagriva and Anjaneya/Hanuman. He is the one who appears as one of Sri Hanuman’s five faces.
Panchamukha Sarpa Narasimha Garuda Homam will be performed on Garuda Panchami which is an auspicious occasion dedicated to Garuda, Lord Vishnu’s vehicle. The day celebrates a mother and sons love as Garuda had great affection towards his mother Kadhru. It is observed by married women for the welfare of their children. Even newly weds observe the day for their marital happiness and prosperity.
The day also coincides with Tulsidas Jayanthi observed in the name of Goswami Tulsidas, a renowned poet and worshipper of Lord Rama. He composed the Hanuman Chalisa, and the Ramcharitmanas, two great heavenly contributions for mankind.
The Panchamukha Sarpa Narasimha Garuda Homam reveres the five faces of Lord Narasimha who appears with his thousand-headed snake Adi Shesha. The five faces of the lord confer various blessings on the devotees. this is special ritual that can please certain forms of Lord Vishnu for Ashta Siddhi, Jaya Papthi, Sakala Sowbhagyam, Dhana Prapthi, etc.
The Panchamukha Narasimha Homam venerates five powerful deities just like the Pancha Mukha Hanuman that grants devotees with multi-fold blessings. Lord Lakshmi Narasimha, an avatar of Lord Vishnu, when invoked helps to absolve all debts and play major role in maintaining good health, wealth and prosperity. It also helps to clear doshas of planets and obtain victory of good over evil, annihilating the evil forces to restore peace and happiness in your life. It also ensures protection by eliminating complex matters in your life. All the faces (Pancha Mukha) grant multi-fold blessings so that you can live a life Lord Narasimha bestows you with Abhista Siddhi i.e. attainment of desired objective. While Lord Hayagriva gives you success in achieving knowledge, Lord Anjaneya or Hanuman grants all your desires, ensures victory in all endeavours especially your career. Lord Lakshmi Varaha grants dhana or wealth and Garuda removes evil spells, and grants all round prosperity (sakala soubhagya).
Nachiyar Kovil is a very popular temple dedicated to Lord Srinivasa Perumal and Goddess Mahalakshmi form, Vanjulavalli Thayar. The temple is located in Kumbakonam and is considered one of the 108 Divya Desam temples of Lord Vishnu. The main deity of the temple is Lord Srinivasa Perumal. The goddess got her name after she was found under a Vanjula tree by a great sage Medhavi who wanted to raise the goddess as his daughter. An important aspect of the temple is the stone Garuda or Kal Garudan, Lord Vishnu’s mount which is made of Saligrama stone and appears with nine serpents. Temple inscriptions say that the sculptor who created the idol saw it fly as soon as he finished sculpting the wings of Garuda. He threw a stone to stop it from flying hitting the nose of the bird. The idol came falling down and since then remained in the temple to bless the devotees. The Kal Garuda festival is very popular here. A pooja in this powerful energy centre clears all Navagraha dosha, overcomes hurdles, improves health, and grants success in finance and career. The worship also alleviates the adverse effects of snake planets Rahu and Ketu, clears marriage delays, and ensures the well-being of children.
