Panchamukha Hanuman refers to the five faces of Lord Hanuman. He assumed this form to destroy Mahiravana, the brother of Ravana who captured Rama and Lakshmana and took them to the nether world as a sacrifice to Mahamaya, a witch and guru of Mahiravana. The immortal lord hears the sincere call to protect him from difficulties, agonies, and dangers. The lord helps to achieve goals and ensures a devotee attains the rare blessings of the lord.
Panchamukha Hanuman Homam would be organised the fifteenth day of Shukla Paksha during the Tamil month of Margazhi, observed as Hanuman Jayanthi. Lord Hanuman is immortal and continues to live forever, and that’s why he’s called Chiranjeevi and is perpetually present to acknowledge prayers. Prasanna Hanuman –This form was worshipped by Vijaya, a Kshatriya king, to get rid of his bond. This is a peaceful form with mace in one hand and abhaya mudra in the other. He removes misfortunes and fulfills all tasks. He blesses the devotee with peace of mind and grants salvation.

Veera Hanuman – This is a very powerful form with ‘Rajo Guna’ that destroys enemies. The mace is seen on the left shoulder and he is ready to crush evil forces. One foot will be in the front signifying he is ready to battle evil forces.

Vimshati Bhuja Hanuman (20-armed Anjaneya Swamy) — Lord Brahma and sapta rishis feared this powerful form and prostrated before Him. He grants power and energy to his devotees when worshipped.

Panchamukha Hanuman – The five-headed form of the lord has the east-facing Hanuman, south-facing Narasimha, west-facing Garuda, north-facing Varaha, and Hayagriva that faces upwards. Hanuman appeared in this form in front of Mother Sita in the Ashoka forest. In this form, Lord Hanuman killed Ahiravana in Pataal and saved Rama and Lakshmana.

Ashtadasha Bhuja Hanuman (18 arms) – The form is seen with eighteen weapons in eighteen arms. The great Maha Rishi Durvasa who was not satisfied with the powers he got from various mantras prostrated before Lord Hanuman in this form.

Suvarchala Sahita Hanuman – Lord Hanuman appears with his consort Suvarchala Devi. He blessed his disciple Dhwajadatta in this form with prosperity.

Chaturbhuja Hanuman (Four-armed Hanuman) – Lord Hanuman blessed a poor Vedic scholar named Kapila. He has four hands in this form. One with abhaya mudra, the second hand showing Varada mudra showering all boons, the third holds a fruit and fourth rests on his consort.

Dwatrimshath-Bhuja Hanuman (32-armed Virat Hanuman) – The 32-armed form has 32 weapons in all. Said to be a fierce or ugra form, an ancient king Somadatta worshipped this form and gained back his lost kingdom. This virat form can change its size as and when it likes. Also, we are in Swetha Varaha Kalpa*, and in a Kalpa called Padma, Lord Hanuman took this form in a battle to assist Devas. According to Vedic knowledge, Hanuman is an avatar of many Kalpas.

Vanarakara Hanuman – According to Parasara Samhitha, Lord Hanuman appeared in this form before Galudu, a tribal who was suffering from leprosy, and blessed him with good health and moksha. This is also the docile form, seen sitting at the feet of his master Lord Rama.
