Onam, the festival of prosperity is celebrated during the month of Chingam or Shravan or Bhadrapada with great joy and fervor. It is a ten-day festival that begins on the Hastham star and concludes on the Thiruvonum star which is observed as the Onam festival. The day signifies the fact that all materialistic pleasures will dwindle but if the almighty wills, we can acquire whatever we want. He appeared as Vamana, on this day, to teach King Mahabali a lesson. Appeasing the Supreme God on the day of Onam fetches prosperity and happiness. By performing rituals on the day we can keep our wealth, riches, and accomplishments intact and get the blessings of the lord for a lifetime.
Ashta Dravya or Ashtadravyam are eight sacred pooja offerings made to Lord Ganesh while performing the Homam. Some of the offerings are coconuts, molasses, sesame oil, sugarcane, honey, rice flakes, banana, and rice. These offerings may vary according to the region of practice or even the choice of the priests who perform the Homam. Performing Ashta Dravya Homam invites the blessings of Lord Ganesh who blesses with wealth, prosperity, and longevity.
The Ashta Dravya Homam can be performed before the start of important occasions like the purchase of new land, or the beginning of a new chapter in education, marriage, or profession.
Ashta Dravya Homam removes obstructions in all spheres of activity that prevent you from progressing in life. The ritual can overcome mental illness, depression, anxiety, etc. It enlightens the spiritual mind and sharpens the intellect for immense knowledge. The Homam bestows boons of prosperity, happiness, and Ashta Aishwarya Siddhi such as Mahima, Laghima, Garima, Prakamya, Anima, Prapti, Vasitvam, and Isatvam. Also, one is assured of perfect health, long life, growth in all aspects of life, limitless wealth, happiness, and prosperity.
Lord Vishnu took the form of Vamana, a short-statured Brahmin asking for three paces of land from the generous King Mahabali who was boastful and wanted to conquer the entire world. To teach him a lesson, Lord Vishnu in his avatar as Vamana grew multi-fold exhibiting his Trivikrama form. He measured the three worlds in just two steps and asked for the third. The king showed his head and was suppressed into the nether world. The uniqueness of this avatar is that the lord did not use any weapon or force to kill a demon. Mahabali was annihilated in a Vedic way using the lord’s intelligence as a weapon. The message is very clear – surrender totally to the lord, and never expect anything in return. The Mahabali episode also shows that there’s nothing permanent and nothing to be taken for granted in this world be it wealth, beauty, power, status, position, or family.
King Mahabali represents Samridhi or prosperity, the three paces of land denote our very existence in this world. Jagrithi, Swapna, and Sushupti which means conscious (awake), dream, and deep slumber, respectively. By keeping his foot on the king’s head the lord relieves one from all these three states to attain Moksha or Liberation.
Trivikrama Mangalam Mahavishnu Homam overcomes potential threats and risks and protects from evil forces. It removes karmic entangles and doshas. Lord Perumal answers prayers for high positions, and promotions and helps regain lost status in society. He also grants happy wedding life, relief from enemies, and good children with blessings for upgrading their learning skills to reach higher echelons of life, especially in their careers. It also opens the path for victory in all spheres, grants problem-free life, name, fame, and all forms of wealth, and helps gain spiritual knowledge and wisdom.
Goddess Bhagavathi is none other than Mother Shakti or Durga. She is worshipped as Bhagavathi in temples of Kerala and some regions of Karnataka in India. The goddess, a powerful merciful deity destroys evils and removes all negative effects of planets, black magic, and health issues.
Bhagavathi Homam is a special ritual that is accomplished by placing a lamp in the center of a mandala. The mother is invoked in the form of Maha Kali, Maha Lakshmi, and Maha Saraswati.

Therefore, Lord Sastha has the combined power of the two trinity gods. He took birth to kill Mahishi, a demoness which he did with ease. He’s one of the most revered deities especially revered in the southern parts of India. The lord is worshipped for eliminating negative influences, accomplishing spiritual growth, eliminating Saturn dosha, etc.
Sri Sastha Homam destroys evil forces that cause anguish and fear in the life of devotees. the ritual to Lord Sastha or Ayyappa gives courage and strength to face any tough situations. The Lord frees the worshipper from the clutches of Saturn's afflictions.
