Lord Shiva was inconsolable when his consort Goddess Sati immolated herself after the Daksha yagya. During His fierce dance of destruction called the Rudra Tandavam, Lord Shiva's untied hair touched the ground, and a Rudra form manifested. In this way, 11 Rudras – Ekadasa Rudra – came into existence. It's believed that the event happened in Thirunangur, at Ubaya Kaveri, in Tamil Nadu. Lord Vishnu appeared to calm down Lord Shiva, and He asked Vishnu to be present along with the Rudras. Thus, 11 Divya Desam temples came into existence with a corresponding Rudra temple – Ekadasa Rudra Peetham.

In a rare invocation, Vedicfolks will perform Ekadasa Rudrapeeth Homam to the Ekadasa Rudras of the Rudra Peetham on the auspicious day of Pradosham. Pra-dosh means the removal of sins. It occurs twice a month during Shukla Paksha and Krishna Paksha and is dedicated to the worship of Lord Shiva. Devotees are freed from the shackles of bondage and attain salvation. At twilight, between 4.30 and 6.00, people observe strict fasts and do pujas to mitigate various problems, remove negative karma, and seek immediate blessings of the lord.
Ekadasa Rudra Peeth Homam is performed to the eleven forms of Rudra who are enshrined in eleven powerful temples in Tamil Nadu. Invoking the eleven forms alleviates all ill-will, distress, and delays and rewards with eleven-fold Rudra blessings.
Sundareswar Homam (Annappanpettai) – Relieves people of incurable stomach pain and all ailments related to the stomach. The worship also nullifies the effects of bad karma, grants long life, and cures all diseases.
Amrithapureeswarar Homam – Lord Amrithapureeswarar Homam cleanses previous birth defects and deep-rooted disorders. The powerful ritual strikes a balance and order in life by removing trials and tribulations. It regenerates the environment and blesses it with a blissful life. It is also performed to acquire fame, financial stability, good health, success, bliss, longevity, and a debt-free life. Airavatheswarar Homam – Worshipping Lord Airavatheswarar or Jurahareswarar gives relief to long pending disputes in work and other personal areas. Swarnapureeswarar Homam – Performing Homam to Lord Swarnapureeswarar removes obstacles in marriage alliances, and relieves from Naga dosha and Kala Sarpa dosha. It also blesses with wealth, and success in undertakings, and ensures happiness and peace.
Mathangeeswarar Homam – Worshipping Lord Mathangeeswarar, the lord of Goddess Matangi removes speech disabilities in children, removes marriage delays, and obstacles, and gives relief to serpent curses and Mars dosha. The Homa also provides excellence in education, music, and a happy marital life.
Naganathar Homam – As the name implies, performing Naganathar Homam eliminates Naga dosha. The ritual also gives relief to problems in paternal relationships, nervous disorders, legal disputes, etc. It paves the way for business excellence, especially for those in the weaving or tailoring industry.
