Ashta Vasus are elemental gods and are known by different names in various scriptures. They reside in Swarga Loka with Lord Indra in the upper planetary system and are responsible for managing universal affairs. Vasu means light or energy having a charitable attitude and being born with high virtues. They denote the Pancha Bhootas and also the sun, moon, and stars. The name Vasu means wealth givers or brilliance. They have massive powers to protect humans from all directions. They give us comfort and are easily pleased when they are invoked through Homams or other ceremonies. The Ashta Vasus also signify the seven chakras of the body while the eighth Vasu – the Sun or Surya, is eternal. Their names are Dyaus, Prithvi, Agni, Vayu, Antariksha, Aditya, Chandramas, and Nakstrani.
In a new series, Vedicfolks will perform the Ashta Vasu Series of Homam. In the first of the series, Dyauspitr Devata, who is the father of the sky, will be invoked. He represents the sky or ether element. His consort is Goddess Prithvi and together they’re called Dyavaprithvi. Dyaus is the father of King Indra, the Lord of Rain.
In many chapters of Rig Veda, the mention of Dyaus and Dyavaprithvi can be found.
Dyaus Pitr is worshipped for providing strength, fame, and progeny. The ritual also invokes the energies of his consort Prithvi (the earth) and the couple confers generous blessings on the devotees. The Homa grants wealth liberally and gives strength, fame, and progeny.
Dyaus Pitr Devata Maha Homam can get rid of past and present sins and also relieve Pitru Dosha and Putra Dosha. It keeps energies around your home positive and rich with auspiciousness. Lord Nataraja is the cosmic dancer who represents the eternal dynamism of the universe. This is the dance of creation and destruction. He is an embodiment of the resplendence of glowing cosmic flames. The true meaning of the lord’s symbolism is hidden in the Nataraja idol. It speaks of the deep understanding of the universe. The scriptures proclaim that the creation, maintenance, destruction, concealment, and finally liberation are what the dance is all about.
