Kubera is also called Dhanpati or the lord of wealth. He’s the treasurer of heaven and the trustee of food grains and riches. Along with Goddess Lakshmi, he grants desired boons to satisfy every wish of the people. He is one of the Ashta Dikpalas that are guardians of the eight directions, and Lord Kubera is the guardian of the north.
It's believed that King Ravan was a follower of Lord Kubera, and therefore Lanka was known as the Country of Gold.
Dhana Karaka or Yoga Karaka means signifactor of wealth. In Vedic astrology, the second and eleventh houses of a chart determine the wealth aspect of an individual.
