Arka Ganapathi is one of the rarest and purest forms of Ganesh found on earth. This form is also called Shwetark Ganapathi or Vellai Erukku Vinayagar (in Tamil) and the material used to carve this form is naturally obtained from the root of a shrub called Arka. It’s believed that Lord Ganesh resides in the roots of the plant. The Arka plant has green-blue leaves and its flowers are tiny without fragrance. The flowers are also used to make garlands for Lord Ganesh.
According to Ganesh Purana, a house that worships Arka Ganapathi will remain free from all evils. Lord Ganapathi resides in the Mooladhara Chakra and therefore the roots of the plant are given to women at the time of childbirth for ease of pain and safe delivery.
The person who possesses this form of Lord Ganesh will be blessed with immense wealth. It is believed that those who pray to this form can experience the presence of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Shiva.
Arka Ganapathi or Shwetark Ganapathi Homam can be performed to remove any negativity in personal space and surroundings. The ritual fetches the blessings of Lord Shiva and Goddess Lakshmi to receive boons of business success, job promotions, knowledge, for having a good harmonious married life, etc.
