During the monarch of the King Parantaka 907-955 A.D this temple was put-up in a Vaprabandha style of construction was comfortably designed resting on the back of a architectural structure "Arthapadma". This Temple is designed with five tier architecture surrounded by a larger complex and a Rajagopuram with monuments, a sanctuary and a well designed hall of paintings and scriptures.
Chatur Kala Bhairavar in this temple appears in four forms, one form in each era in distributed ages of life, to protect the universe from evil spirits and destruction and to bless the devotees. This is an important significance which divide each cycle of creation into four divisions or Yugas, has certain characteristic features leveled by a specific time period, to differentiate one Yuga to Other, in a sequential form is being fixed. He cleared the curse out of his devoted prayers to Lord Chatur Kala Bhairavar who was blessed for his sincere devotion. His prayers gave him the liberation to invite River Ganga to his house and he made to flow directly into his house well, who took bath for cleansing the body and soul redeeming his sins, was one of the great works and power of God Liberating the body and souls from sins and evil effects.
In this temple Lord Shiva in the form of Sivayoginathar has a number of religious significance and popular shrine redeeming the sins, where Goddess Parvati in the form of Soundaryanayaki (Ambal) has to wait outside Lord Shiva's sanctum looking at the Sun Clock, until Lord Shiva wakes up from deep meditation and this is the place where Eight Shiva Saints have redeemed their sins before they merged with the iconic "Linga" is an adorable presence an auspicious place of worship who have taken the blessings worshiping Lord Shiva have achieved the abode of Lord Shiva for immortality.
