Special Archana to Lord Muruga on His Six Divine Abodes
The six abodes of Murugan are Palani, Swamimalai, Thirupparankunram, Thiruchendur, Thiruthani and Pazhamudircholai.
Palani Murugan Temple - Located in Dindigul District, on the Palani hill top where 'Dhandayuthapani' is the main deity, in a meditating state, carrying a staff as weapon in his hands. This is the place where Lord resided after his feud with his family over a divine fruit. The main deity idol is made out of an amalgam of nine minerals popularly called Navabashanam.
Swamimalai Murugan Temple - Located in Kumbakonam, the temple is built on an artificial hill. This is the place where Muruga explained the pranava mantra "Om" to his father Shiva.
Thirupparamkunram Murugan Temple - Located on a hillock on the outskirts of Madurai where Lord married Indra's daughter Deivanai. This is the first of the Six abodes - Arupadaiveedu of Murugan.
Thiruchendur Murugan Temple - Located on the sea-shore in Tuticorin. The temple commemorates the incident where Murugan won victory over demon Soorapadman.
Thiruthani Murugan Temple - Located near Chennai, Murugan recover his inner peace after a war with Asuras and married Valli here.
Pazhamudircholai Murugan Temple - Located on a hillock on the outskirts of Madurai. Lord Murugan is seen with his consorts Deivanai and Valli.
