Geetha Homam (Bhagavat Gita Homam)
Gita Homam is an oblation to Agni accompanied by the chanting of the verses from the Bhagavad Gita. The Gita as imparted by the supreme Lord Krishna representing Narayana to Arjuna as Nara embodies the essence of all the Upanishads.
It sets out and summarizes all aspects of the good life and all paths to salvation. Scriptural passages such as the Purushasukta and the Gita are eminently suited for recitation in a dedicated performance of Homam.
Gita Homam is particularly suitable for performing on Gita Jayanti that marks the day on which the divine message of the Srimad Bhagavad Gita was delivered.
