Soundarya Lahari is a collection of 103 mystic mantras but it is a divine volume of tantras. For all the 103 hymns, there are 103 yantras which also describes the appropriate method or Sri Vidya sadhana that’s related to the mantras and what results one derive from them. Soundarya Lahari is the science of beauty of Devi which uses tools like mantra, yantra, tantra and mandala to reach out to the almighty and achieve your desired boons. The sound vibration of a mantra is transformed into a visual geometric form called mandalas. It is a three-dimensional object that manifests before a sadhaka through the power of yantra.Also, in the Mooladhara chakra lies Kundalini which is a vast reservoir of energy coiled up like a snake. When a devotee does sadhana, this snake is awakened which means the power of Shakti which lies dormant at the base of the spine (Mooladhara chakra) is awakened and moves upwards through Swadhishana, Manipura, Anahata, Vishuddhi, Ajna, and finally Sahasrara where the supreme consciousness Lord Shiva resides.

Therefore, a bit of this vast energy of Shakti travels upwards to meet her consort in order to maintain and procreate the universe. After the union with her Lord, Shakti returns back to her dormant state in the Kundalini. Therefore, one can experience the ascent and descent of Kundalini Shakti and also come to understand that the ultimate liberation is the union of Shiva and Shakti in the Sahasrara. That’s what great saints of yore practiced through Kundalini yoga and meditation. Therefore Soundarya Lahari is a spiritual technique to resolve your struggles and distresses that you face in life whether you are married, unmarried or a sanyasi (ascetic). It is a great method to cure diseases that are unforeseen in nature which no medicine can heal.

For the fourth of the Vedicfolks Signature Series Special Soundarya Lahari Homam, verses 28 – 36 will be chanted on the day of Adi Shankaracharya Jayanthi, the day the greatest scholar of Sanatana Dharma was born. It is said that Adi Shankaracharya was an incarnation of Lord Shiva. He penned the 103-versed devotional, classic poetry Soundarya Lahari. It also coincides with the birthday of Sri Ramanuja, a Vaishnavite saint who preached intense devotion and attainment of moksha by realizing the Ultimate Brahman. Though the two saints followed different religious paths, their ultimate goal was realization of the self in order to attain Moksha.

Soundarya Lahari Verses (28-36)

Significance – Celestial beings like Lord Brahma and Indra perish even after drinking the nectar of mortality. But Lord Shiva even after consuming the lethal poison called Halaahala, which was derived after ocean churning, still remains eternal and the reason for that is the Devi’s Tatanka or ear jewel. Jewels are worn only by women whose husbands are alive. Therefore only the Devi’s Tatanka is enough to keep Lord Shiva eternal as her power is enormous.

Significance – The powerful Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu and Lord Indra who have killed demons, are always at the feet of the Mother who needs to watch her step lest she topples them while she moves to receive her consort who comes to visit her. It means that while the other Gods respect her, she pays her respect to Lord Shiva.

Significance – The Goddess who is omnipresent radiates ashta siddhis or eight supernatural powers from her lotus feet. To the person who considers the goddess as his soul and meditates upon her, even the wealth held by Lord Shiva would seem worthless. The Goddess magnanimity is such that even the flames of cosmic dissolution are like fire ceremony (aarti) for her.

Significance – Lord Shiva revealed the 64 tantras to the world that expound practices conferring only certain type of psychic powers and worldly fulfilments but not all. He did this to draw a curtain of delusion and later after Mother Shakti’s insistence, he revealed the Sri Vidya tantra (panchadshakshari mantra) to the world which on its own can confer the four objectives of life namely dharma, artha, karma and moksha.

Also called Sri Chakra, it is a mystical geometric symbol that has nine interlocking triangles that radiate from the centre called the Bindu. It is said that this divine tool of the Goddess when meditated upon relieves one of stress, anxiety, depression and financial pressures and confers blessings of health, wealth, abundance and prosperity.
