Lord Rama is the seventh avatar of Maha Vishnu and can be appeased easily. He was born to destroy the demon king Ravana so that righteousness and dharma prevail. Lord Rama is known for his immaculate identity and inimitable straightforwardness. He is called Maryada Purushothama, an epitome of the perfect man or Lord of self-control. His story of supreme sacrifice and perfect morality is widely known.
A beautiful verse from Vishnu Sahasranamam reads like this:
‘Sri Rama Rama Rameti, Rame Raame Manorame,
Sahasranama Thathulyam, Rama Nama Varanane’
It means that if you chant the name Rama three times it is equal to chanting the whole Vishnu Sahasranamam that contains 1000 names of the supreme Godhead. This is how it is calculated: take the name RA, MA. Ra is the second consonant in Sanskrit and Ma is the fifth. By substituting the value of RA and MA as 2 and 5 you get 2×5=10. Three times 10=10×10×10=1000. Therefore, chanting the name three times is equivalent to saying it 1000 times.
