Martanda Bhairava is an incarnation of Lord Shiva worshipped with great piety in some parts of the country especially in the Deccan plateau. One of the 64 Bhairava forms, Martanda Bhairava is seen mounted on a white horse with his consort Mahalsa or Martanda Bhairavi or Jayanthi Bhairavi, seated behind.
Also known as Khandoba, Makhari, Mailaranlinga or Mallari, Lord Martanda Bhairava is a principal deity of farming, shepherd, hunting, tribal, warriors, merchants, kings and also those belonging to high castes. He is said to possess the attributes of Shiva, Bhairava, Karthikeya and Surya enclosed in one form, therefore this composite deity is represented as a linga or that of a warrior god riding a horse. People of other castes also worship this unique form, the warrior god to receive all types of wealth and success in their life.
Jayanthi Bhairavi is one of the 64 Bhairavis that manifested from the Ashta Matrikas who divided further to form the 64 Bhairavis. They are consorts of the 64 Bhairavas. Worshipping bhairavis gives relief from pain and sufferings, protects from all harmful and negative influences and bestows Ashta Siddhis.
Martanda Bhairava and Jayanthi Bhairavi Homam will be performed on Kalashtami which dedicated to Lord Kala Bhairava and is observed on Krishna Paksha Ashtami Tithi the eighth day after full moon. It is very auspicious to devote the day to any Bhairava form like Martanda Bhairava for prosperity, happiness and success in life.
Martanda Bhairava is regarded as the god of Premier Sakama Bhakti (wish-giving devotion) and one of the powerful deities responsible for pledging (Navas).

Goddess Maha Lakshmi, the bestower of wealth, fortune and prosperity manifested in 16 forms called Shodasa Maha Lakshmi. Shodasa Maha Lakshmi Homam will be performed on the propitious day of Karadaiyan Nombu which is an important festival for married women who seek to protect their husbands from threats of life, for blessings of longevity and well-being. The day is observed when the month of Maasi ends and Panguni begins. The day coincides with Meena Shankranti when the Sun moves from one constellation (Kumbha) to the other (Meena) it also reminds every one of the great dedication of Savitri, a devoted wife who brought her husband Satyavan back to life from the clutches of death. Both married and unmarried women observe fast on this day to protect their husbands and also for a perfect prospective partner, respectively. Karadai is a special dish prepared on the day and offered to the deity after a day of vritam/nombu or fasting by the devotees. Worshipping 16 forms (Shodasa) of Goddess Lakshmi on this day is highly favourable for material achievements.
