Mahamaya – A Goddess Who Pervades All Three Worlds

Mahamaya, a name associated with Goddess Durga or Kali is the queen of Dakinis, the queen of Yoginis and the supreme secret of all these secret goddess. We live in a world of illusion and Mahamaya took form to break the shackles of illusion. She is the primal energy who makes you realise your true self, your Eternal Being. One can attain her only through Self Realisation. The scriptures say that Mahamaya appeared from energy of all gods and once got weapons to slay Mahishasura she became Goddess Durga. No one can perceive her because she is beyond human imagination, has no proper definition and without her presence not even a single atom of the universe moves.

She is the dominant source of spiritual attainment. She is the embodiment of knowledge, pervades all three worlds, source of all gods, to create, sustain and also destroy. But she is described as being dark blue form, has four faces, blue in the east, yellow in south, red in west and blue-green in north. Her four hands hold a skull cap, a Katyanga, a bow and arrow.
