Nothing can match the power of Lord Hanuman and now it’s time for his birthday on 15th day of Shukla Paksha during the Tamil month of Margazhi and this year it falls on December 26, 2019 that’s observed as Hanuman Jayanti. A festival celebrated with great enthusiasm, Hanuman Jayanthi is always celebrated in a traditional manner with an exuberance of a rich culture and heritage. Lord Hanuman, Anjaneya or Vayu Putra is worshipped with pride by people for his great devotion and humility to Lord Rama.
Celebrations begin early in the day as people perform pujas to invoke the blessings of Anjaneya. Prayers and special rituals are performed in temples to appease the Lord. Devotees apply vermillion on their forehead as it is said to bring good luck and health. Other important services include applying red vermillion mixed with ghee to the idol, offering red flowers like hibiscus, betel and nuts, fruits such as bananas, ladoos etc.
