Ujjaini Mahakali temple is situated in Secunderabad in Telangana district of Andhra Pradesh. It is said that Suriti Appaiah, a ‘doli (palanquin) bearer’ promised to install the Ujjaini (a place in Madhya Pradesh) Maha Kali in Secunderabad if the people are saved from the Cholera epidemic in which thousands of people died. After he returned from Ujjaini, Suruti Appaiah installed the idol of Maha Kali as promised. The temple is popular among the devotees who throng in large numbers to worship the deity who fulfills their vows. The first idol that was installed was made of wood and walls were built around it and the new temple was named Ujjain Maha Kali temple. Later, when repairs were carried out, inside a well, in the area, another idol of Goddess Manikyalamma was found. The two deities Maha Kali and Manikyalamma shower blessings on the devotees who visit the temple. Also seen in the temple is Mahakaleswara Sahita Veerabhadra Swamy who is the consort of Ujjaini Mahakali. The goddess sits in Padmasana posture with four hands holding sword, spear, damaru and a vessel of amrit. Prayers to the goddess satisfies all desires, boosts welfare, and gives happiness, prosperity and peace.
