Bhu Suktam is one of the five Suktam called Pancha Suktams of Lord Vishnu which are reverently followed by devotees. The other four Suktams are Purusha, Narayana, Sri Suktam and Neela Suktam. Bhu means earth and Suktam is a hymn in praise of gods. Bhu Suktam is a hymn of 14 verses of which the first seven are from Krishna Yajurveda – Taittriya Samhita, the next five are from other Vedic sources, and the last two don’t have any Vedic origin.
Bhu Suktam is an invocation of Bhudevi, the goddess of the earth. She is the incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi, and consort of Lord Varaha, an avatar of Lord Vishnu. In the south of India, she is believed to be Andal, a divine saint who wished to attain Lord Vishnu.

It further adds that the mother takes care of us by being with us at all times and being compassionate and tolerant. The offerings through Agni while performing Homam in the name of the goddess helps to nourish her devotees in abundance. Describing the Sun god, the verses say that the Sun also makes the soil fertile, which helps to produce crops in plenty and it’s also responsible for the rains.
