Lord Akash Bhairava is one of the rare forms of Bhairava. In the temple of Akash Bhairava in Kathmandu, Nepal, He’s also worshipped as Kirati king named Yalambar. Worshipping Lord Akash Bhairava ensures good will and protection from all dangers that are both material and occult in nature. In Buddhist iconography, Lord Akash Bhairava is represented with a large blue head with a fierce looking face, huge silver eyes and a crown of serpents and skulls. The Lord of the Sky, Akash Bhairava is the trusted god of all factions of people for copious rainfall so that agriculture can thrive. He is also revered for power, strength, courage, safety, goodwill and well-being. Akash Bhairava Homam will be performed on the day of Kalashtami which is dedicated to one of the forms of Lord Kala Bhairava, observed on Krishna Paksha Ashtami Tithi, the eighth day after full moon. The Akash Bhairava temple is located in Vengathur, Tiruvallur District in Tamil Nadu. The temple signifies the worship of combined form of eight Bhairava’s or Ashta Bhairava. Earlier, the idol of Lord Akash Bhairava was placed at a different site with one of the legs slightly buried under the soil. A divine voice said that the idol should be placed in another site for a complete darshan of Lord Akash Bhairava. The voice also said that a yogi was in a Samadhi state below, and therefore the idol needs to be shifted.
