Greatness & Power Of Flaming Goddess Jwalamukhi
In the temple in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, the goddess is referred to as Goddess of Light and also worshipped as Ambika. Her temple is a Shakti Peeth, a holy place where her tongue fell. The flame that burns through the crevices of rocks is eternal in this temple.
The Great Mughal Emperor, Akbar visited the temple and tried to extinguish the flames with water to check its originality. The power of Goddess Jwalamukhi still kept the fire burning. He was surprised and realized the power of Jwalamukhi. Akbar offered golden dome for the Jwala Devi Temple, later the golden dome turned into copper. People believed that the Goddess declined his offering.
