The Trinities Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva could not overpower the mighty Mahisha, a demon who conquered all the worlds and created havoc. So, they created a powerful goddess from their individual powers with contributions from other gods and Devas. She was so radiant that the gods could not see her with their naked eyes. She was a manifestation of Shakti who got Sudarhsana chakra form Vishnu, Trishul from Lord Shiva and Kamadalam from Brahma. She was named kaatyaayani and later after annihilating the demon Mahisha, she came to be known as Mahishamardini.

The Kulachudamani Homam is dedicated to this great symbol of woman power that destroys all negativity when invoked with sincere devotion. It also destroys doshas of all forms from birth to death. It invokes the powers of supreme Trinities. By performing this homam on Saptami day, Goddess Durga/Mahishamardini gets pleased easily and showers her blessings generously on the devotees. Also, all attributes that one acquires from the ritual are doubled.
