Homam is a Vedic ritual performed for a particular deity through the invocation of Agni first, accompanied by pooja and mantras. Fire is pavaka, the purifier. It is the indestructible part of the mortal: yo martyeshu amrtah (RigVeda 1.77.1).

While other forms of worship rely on the performer’s inner purity and devotion, Homam brings with it the inherent purity of fire and its energy. Vedic practice of Homam is thus much more effective than all other forms of worship.

Homam is performed strictly as prescribed in the Vedic scriptures by scholars well-versed and experienced in the Vedic practice. Various Homams are performed for obtaining specific relief or benefit desired. Performed after sankalpa for the specific benefit or remedy desired. During sankalpa, mention family’s nakshatra, rasi, gothram, day, and thithi.
