Lord Venkateswara or Tirupathi Balaji is the most revered God very popular among the masses. His other names are Venkateswara, Venkatachalapathi, Srinivasa, Perumal etc. It is said that the lord has come to earth in the form of Venkateswara to save his devotees from the troubles of Kaliyuga. The Thirumala Sthala Purana states that when Sage Brigu insulted Maha Vishnu in Vaikuntam, an annoyed Goddess Lakshmi descended on earth and performed penance.
