Kalabhairava Jayanthi, is the birthday of Bhairava, a fierce form of Lord Shiva. This auspicious day falls on the eighth day after the full moon i.e. the Ashtami phase in the month of Karthik. But this year, it is being celebrated on November 29, 2018 and also called as Maha Kalashtami, Kala Bhairava Ashtami or Kalashtami. The day is perfect for transforming your bad times to good by removing all tough hassles and insolvable anxieties. Kala Bhairava manifested in eight forms Ashta Bhairava that are eight avatars of Kalabhairava, a fierce form of Lord Shiva. They control the eight directions of the universe and each of them is married to Ashta Matrikas. The eight bhairavas represent the five elements of nature — sky, air, fire, water and earth and the other three represent the sun, moon and atma (soul). They also symbolise the Ashta Lakshmi for their eight types of wealth. Worship of Bhairava leads to success, superior progeny, prosperity, eradicates debts and liabilities, prevents premature death and begets time management skills and prosperity. Since all of them evolve from Lord Shiva, he is adored as Maha Bhairava. The Bhairavas also have the responsibility of guarding the 52 Shakti Peethas and all jyothirlingas.
In a fierce battle with demon Andhakasura, from Lord Shiva’s mouth fire emanated which resulted in the manifestation of Goddess Yogeshwari. The other forms were manifested from other deities totalling eight in number. Vaishnavi from Lord Vishnu, Brahmani from Lord Brahma, Indrani from Lord Indra, Kaumari from Lord Karthikeya, Maheshwari from Lord Shiva, Varahi from Lord Varaha, Narasimhi or Pratingira from Lord Narasimha.
